"Bill Cosby" is starting to sound suspiciously like "Jian Ghomeshi."
We need to create a world where survivors feel safe coming forward against the people who harm them. The conversations and the anger surrounding the alleged crimes committed by both these men is an excellent start. I saw this just a few moments ago:

This is incredibly sad to read, but also incredibly encouraging. Survivors are coming forward, and groups like the Sexual Assault Centre of Edmonton are providing them support. I'm happy when I remember that so far, this campaign has raised $105 for them.
I believe there are groups in every community that deserves support for the work they do in supporting survivors. Check out the links here for some organizations that need support today in the work they do.
I also believe that continuing to talk and be angry about Jian Ghomeshi and Bill Cosby will continue to make a safer environment for survivors to come forward, and for all of us to support the survivors in our communities.
The goal is to raise $2500 for organizations that support survivors of sexual assault. There are some links here to organizations that take monetary donations. If you do make a donation, tweet me @closelyreadjg and let me know how much so I can add it to the tally. Or, leave a comment on this post. OR, leave a note in the comment form.
